If I had had the option to give back the $300 I received from the gov't in 2001, I would have.

You did have the option, and a taxpayer always DOES have the option, of refusing a refund. You simply return the uncashed check to the "Bureau of the Public Debt", the address for which can be found in the instructions for form 1040. They also accept cash contributions, so it isn't too late. My recollection is that the annual total of such contributions measures in the hundreds of thousands of dollars -- so you're one of a VERY, VERY few...

You did not have to deposit it, and if you have second thoughts about it, there is a way for you to pay "extra" taxes. I could help you find out how, but I am pretty sure you are not serious, it is just talk.

Z... that was funnier than watching a monkey try to screw a football.<GGGGGGGGGGGGG>

Z... you can donate your $300 to the government if you choose. Or better yet you could have just cut the check up and then the government would have a PLUS balance error on their records in the amount of $300. You could also donate the $300 to National Parks, etc.

Make your move... put your money where your mouth is. After you do this please post a compy of your cancelled check! BLAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!!!!!!!!
