thames-- Your memories were in line with mine. In fact, I visited Parliament to listen to some Falkland debate. After the usual scurrying over domestic issues, the place exploded when the discussion turned to the Falklands. Compare that with the subdued murmers heard in the US.

I was also visiting friends in Stokes-on-Trent when the Lewinsky news broke. The friends, who are lefties, felt Clinton had no choice but resigning. Clinton, IMO, showed even more balls by hanging on than he had with Monica. The country backed him, to the dismay of the Republicans.

I, also, truly hope that I'm wrong about terrorism. However, our son and daughter-in-law are scheduled to use our NYC apartment this weekend. I cautioned them against it.
