I believe the arab world is ready to change to a better proven system. What kind of democracy and what kind of laws is yet to be determined, but I have no doubt democracy can prosper in Iraq if given the chance.

The democratization of Qatar is a significant event, as is the clear move toward democracy from INSIDE Iran.

Whether GW gets defeated in 2004 will hardly mean defeat for the push for democracy in the middle east. There is no way, whoever is president in 2004, will abandon the democracy push. In 1917, there were 11 democratized nations.

I meant Bush's attention span. Americans, in general, grow impatient when things do not move quickly. And democracy will be a very slow process in the ME.

As for them being ready...........most of the world seemingly could use democracy but like I have said before growing democracy is a tough job and a lot of work.
