You're not alone in those thoughts. I keep thinking it will appear easy in the initial stages.. but the mop up/clean up operations could be a real hassle. Unlike the last conflict, this one can't be fought entirely from a remote control.

Other factors that are different.. Iraqi's are fighting on their homeland, we are the aggressor, ideology clashing, the administration assumptions that it will be quick and easy, Turks and the Kurds, etc..etc...

WEL looking for 2 right at this moment.. amazing!! (p.s. gonna make a great short at some point)

Anyone think that perhaps the Iraq war be a little more complicated...

WJ,

I've been hanging out a great deal lately on the excellent Foreign Affairs Discussion Group over at the SI Coffeeshop threads.

A great many informed posters debate this and other questions there, in a moderated, no-fools-allowed setting.

The general consensus, if there is indeed one, is that the war will be easier than the following "peace". But there also seems to be an uneasy feeling that overconfidence in the military mismatch could be our undoing.

We will see. I for one, would feel better if we had more than a handful of allies with us.

BTW, congrats on WEL.

All You Need to Know About the US and Iraq (humor)

I've had very mixed feelings about the coming war with Iraq.

But, I listened to Howard Stern this morning, and he explained it
all to me. It all makes sense now.

If you read and understand what's below, you will have all of the info
you need to understand the Iraq crisis.

***

Remember the old Justice League of America comic books, with Superman,
Batman, Aquaman, etc.?

OK,

The USA is Superman. We have the best super powers, and are the strongest.

Britain is Batman. They aren't the strongest, but they are really smart. They have
Scotland Yard, etc., and are very good detectives, like Batman.

Iraq is the Riddler. The Riddler can cause a lot of trouble in the world, especially
to weaker powers, but is no match for Superman.

Basically, Superman is about to fight the Riddler, and kick his a**.

That's all you need to know. Get it now? OK.
