And the odds of someone being able to transport such a bomb into Grand Central Stationare probably about the same as me winning Powerball- twice.

Today, perhaps (although I think you probably have underestimated the likelihood someone could do this). But that isn't the point; the point is, what is the likelihood 5 years, 10 years, or more into the future? Because of the development of new technologies these risks grow exponentially over time. It is foolish to ignore these technological advances.

Think so? Think again. According to some, Russia has lost a number of their suitcase atomic bombs. On Fox one day, a senator was there with a model suitcase bomb. He stated that it was similar to the ones reported lost by the soviet union. That device could easily be planted in NYC.

Well, think the NY harbor, Elizabeth NJ. It's not that far from Manhattan, and far more doable.

Z, <And the odds of someone being able to transport such a bomb into Grand Central Stationare probably about the same as me winning Powerball- twice.>

Just like the odds of someone sneaking a bomb on-board a plane, especially with today's heavy security?

You'll be surprised how porous our borders are. If drugs and illegal immigrants can sneak into our country undetected (the latter a pet peeve of Jim McMannis'), think about how easy it is to sneak an atomic bomb into America.

Z, have you noted the responses to your unconcern re a bomb in GC Station? The right must look under their beds every morning for pipe bombs. Of course, given their behavior, they may have reason to be paranoid.<g>

After listen to their paranoia for more than a year, I think they should not be allowed at the head of gov'ts but rather in back offices doing accounting and designing weapons.
