Kerry will have broad across-the-board appeal even to some conservatives, most moderates, everyone left of center and plenty of veterans. People will judge Bush on the economy primarily and ask themselves can we stand four more years?

Kerry is tough on defense and is a major military expert and war hero. The military issue wont be Bush's. In fact Bush will lose on almost all issues, plus the all-important charisma and honesty-character issue.

Many partisans will stay loyal to Bush but not enough unless there's a popular 3rd party left-winger in the race. I don't see that happening.

And remember Kerry will run with a moderate southerner or McCain. The Democrats will also be hugely energized after four years of Bush and the theft in Florida. That said, it will be a very tough race.

So far all the GOP can come up with "against" Kerry is this Massachusetts liberal tag which Kerry has moved beyond in recent years. Besides, all those "liberal" economic ideas worked like gangbusters in the 90's. It's called being fiscally conservative (ironically). And the "conservative" ones haven't. The proof is in the pudding there. This is the worst economy since the mid 70's and trillions in deficits will mount with Bush in power. The economy killed Bush Sr. and Carter, and it will kill GW. Nobody wins with a bad economy.
