Judicial resolution of disputes is not a fundamental principle of democracy per se. The judiciary conveys legitimacy to any political system, regardless of the nature of the system. If judicial decisions are viewed as fundamentally flawed and tainted, then they no longer convey that legitimacy and the system is ultimately undermined. Democracy exists independently from judicial fiat. It ultimately resides with the people. They convey the authority. You have it backwards.
