Moreover, the past of the US has not been to force those views but rather to force commercial views, to uphold dictators who supported the expansion of American business interests even when that ran against the interests of local populations. Central America is a prime example; there are plenty of others.

I of course, am shocked, shocked, that you did not like it. Actually, you were nicer about it than I expected. Your statement above shows that you are still hung up in the Cold War, IMO.

Isn't it is amazing that after all these years, we "Neovictorians" on the right are fighting for "Truth, Justice, and the American way," and want to help the rest of the world achieve Democracy, while those on the left want to "Return with us now to those thrilling days of yesteryear," and fight the spread of our way of life under the guise of stopping "imperialism," "colonialism," and trying to "force our views down everyone else's throat."

I am a cynical old fart now cast in the roll of a "Idealist." Will wonders never cease!

I feel like I am going out singing, "A Minstrel Boy to the War has come" with Daniel and Peachy. I always loved that scene.
