Sure, you get the bigot contingent of the species all over ... there are probably demented frenchmen right now taking reasonable objections at US actions and turning them into something unreasonable .... near our other house in Chiapas are several individuals who react with deep anger on hearing english spoken, due to its association with past injustice against the nation and the people etc bla bla .... i make a point of 'accidentally' speaking english around them, or in explaining something saying 'como se dice en inglés' .... pretty funny sometimes - once we had a small group visiting, that included several trying hard to learn spanish, one was a fundamentalist evangelical type right out of the US midwest, thoroughly nice person and not obtrusive about the bible-thumping at all, great sense of humour and excellent with children .... well my wife-to-be set her up to trade spanish for english with her good friend, the daughter of the local priísta jefe, the strongest opponent around of expanding horizons, he was quite pissed about it but could do nothing ... very amusing i thought, because i detested this dickhead from the day i met him
