Taiwan's TSMC Chairman: Chip Industry Is Poised For Rise Tuesday March 18, 8:55 pm ET TAIPEI -(Dow Jones)- Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co. Chairman Morris Chang said Wednesday that his firm's business in the second quarter will be much stronger than during the first quarter. He added that the semiconductor industry is poised for a rise in the second quarter. He said his upbeat assessment was prompted by strengthening book-to-bill ratios over the past few months, but he gave no specific numbers. A ratio larger than one usually indicates orders are improving. Chang made his remarks during a technology conference in Taipei sponsored by Merrill Lynch & Co. (MER).
