Seriously, Scott -- do we really want to make friends with the rulers in that part of the world? If it were not for oil, we'd probably have nothing to do with them. The leaders and the culture are barbaric. I laugh when I hear the "war protestors" say the USA is cruel and evil and harsh and dictators . . .

If the USA were like the Arab countries, we would be killing everyone who preached some religion other than the official country one -- whatever that might be. It is blasphemy to preach or teach anything but Islam in many, if not all of those countries, and they routinely torture and kill those they catch doing it. The prisoners in the USA have unions, and get college education, and have TV and exercise programs, and decent food, etc. They have the "right" to sue for crying out loud! Arabs torture and kill their prisoners. Saddam and his sons have personally supervised the "shredding" of prisoners -- feeding them head or feet first (if they wanted to really torture them) through plastic shredders similar to our paper shredders. How can one reason or bargain with people like this? Would you try to "be friends" with some of the criminally insane people in our prisons? Would you try to reason with them? Or would you be scared to death and want nothing to do with them? It's easy to "save a seal" or plead for people on another side of the globe, but how many of these Hollywood idiots would be willing to put up housing in their neighborhoods for the criminally insane that we now keep locked up? How about some homeless shelters next to where THEY LIVE? Liberals want to help everyone unless it impedes on their security or their free time or their money or their lifestyle, etc. Money is at the root of both parties, but the liberals never admit it -- they even deny it! Biggest bunch of hypocrites I've ever seen. Both parties do it and fake their concern, but the liberals go way overboard screaming how they care for the poor and the afflicted and the sick and the mentally off, but they want them nowhere near their families and their $1000 wine bottles. Hollywood morons get millions per picture and episode. How many would give that up to save the downtrodden? I say not 1/2 of 1%.

I remain,

SOROS
