I got to see Dire Straights in a small club in Seattle right when their first album was released....'77/'78ish. It was set up as a concert with rows of folding chairs, as soon as the music started, everyone just spontaneously began folding up the chairs and stacking them off to the side and began to dance..it was magical

I hope he is ok. Sounds like he will be, but those are some painful injuries...

Oh, no. The dude is my favorite living guitar player. Hope he recovers soonest. Busted ribs are a major pain, and there isn't a lot you can do about them except grin and bear it. Big danger (aside from a punctured lung, which doesn't seem to be the case), is pneumonia, cuz it hurts too much to cough and deep breathe. (Then some jerk like me comes along and makes them do it).
