Screen Size determination and filling-in accordingly is not working.

I have my screen set @ 800 x 600.

It seems that on all screens, the bottom horizontal scroll bar needs to be moved a lot. . . If it needs to be moved, it should be very little. . . not a whole screen or two.

Even at that, it seems to me that there is more data hanging off the right side than before (very little that didn't make much difference).

This is my first look and initial impression. . .

I can hardly wait for the advertising banners to show up! (not really!).
When that happens, you will be stooping to a new LOW level which could very easily cause more of us to just plain get out & go elsewhere. If there was a money problem, why did you stop the subscriber $$ method?
It kept a lot of trash out. . .

Anyway, good luck!

Joe

Hey, you took the "Forum" column out of the SubjectMarks page. Very nice! Thanks for that! Each subject should stay on one line now. If it were me, I'd boot the 'Replies' column as well. I don't know why anyone would want to see the total number of replies in the thread. That information is displayed on every message that you view. Anyhow, what you've done looks much better IMHO. Thanks.

SubjectMarks Sub-Headings:
Current:
Subjects with New Messages. . . . . . . <br>
Subject. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . New Replies Latest

(2 lines - Bold Black text on top of general screen White. . . No data section separation accomplished by the Heading) ["Subject" on second line is not needed.]

Would be better as:
Subjects with New Messages. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . New Replies Latest
(1 line - Bold Black text on top of a light blue screen of the same "Unread Message" color. Would make a better section separation Heading.)

- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
StockTalk Sub-Headings:
Current:
Reply. . . . Message Preview . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . From Date
(Plain bold Black text on the general screen white background. . . poor Heading. . . no separation.)

Would be better as:
Reply. . . . Message Preview . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . From Date
(Bold Black text on top of a light blue screen of the same "Unread Message" color. Would make a better section separation Heading.)

Without listing ALL data sections on the various pages here, the following would work for ALL of them. . .

Whenever we have a Heading describing the columns which they Head, it would be better to use:

Bold Black text on top of a light blue screen of the same "Unread Message" color. Would make a better section separation Heading.

in order to form a real Heading that separates the data section from a possible prior section and start a new data section.

OK, just my two bits. . . for now.

Thank you,
Joe

I much prefer the current
Company News and StockTalk Messages
when I pull up a quote.

The beta3 just shows
StockTalk Messages

which makes SI too slow to get the views I want.

In beta the Inbox can be accessed from 2 spots. The one next to the SI logo in the top right shows how many messages are in your Inbox. The other location, the row below the yellow header, doesn't. Why not? There's certainly plenty of room.

Thanks, SIfkaJB

John,

Nice job cleaning up the 800x600 screens on the Beta.

As a result I can finally start using the beta site a bit more.

Things seem to be coming along rather quickly and nicely, and you certainly have been responsive.

Thanks.

I gave up on ever seeing those prioritized BrowseMaster features nicely prioritized by CatLady long, long ago and hopefully haven't bugged you too badly <g> of late on that score.

Having said that I would really like to see the parameter of "View Next 10" feature expanded, if not too 100, at least greater than 10 and ideally user selectable.

One other fine feature of SI that I would like to see enhanced is the "Ignore" feature.

I would very much like to see the capability of selectively being able to ignore a poster by individual board. While I might wish to read the posts of Charlie TunaFish on one board, I might wish to be able to not have to wade through his nonsense on another board.

A fellow we used to know as SI Bob did a nice implementation of similar functionality elsewhere.

And, oh yeah, anything that can be done to improve search capabilities would be greatly appreciated.

That is my modest wish list for today.

Best,

- Eric -
