Not a good sign, MCHP has been good at getting new design wins in a broad range of consumer products. A delay in a new factory might indicate slowing demand on the consumer side.

4:48PM Microchip cuts Q4 goals, delays opening new factory (MCHP) by Chris Kraeuter
Microchip Technology (MCHP) reduced its financial targets for the fiscal fourth quarter, which ends in March, and it delayed the opening of its new plant in Gresham, Ore., to October from July. Also, the company changed how it recognizes revenue in Asia, resulting in adjustments to quarterly operating results for the first three quarters of fiscal 2003, which began on April 1, 2002.

Harry I moved back to BC (West Kootenays) in November. I had an idea that I could go into business here programming this and that. I became a member at local Chamber of Commerce(s) and discovered that small business in the Kootenays is (well) small. Franchised small businesses have good inventory and point of sales systems. Mom and pop shop budgets cannot justify costs of computer automated systems.

I did get two recent inquiries from recruiters in Vancouver but no follow through. One a, US company, located on South Marine Drive, was developing an election system for the US; the other was developing a school/college tracking and scheduling system for the US.

Right now I am fiddling with a day trading system, I can (well I hope to) make more money trading than working right now. I need to collect more historical tick data.

Shaw cable high speed internet is impressive here, I am getting 2 mega bit per second downloads -- that's just basic service!
