You know Frank I was thinking that if Bush were a good Communist he probably would have found it much easier to frame Iraq as the beginning of a new yet somehow never ending Revolutionary War. The not particularly novel idea that the army is the main ingredient of state power is essential Marxist theory. Mao is best known for saying that that war can only be abolished by war and that all political power comes from the barrel of a gun. I guess he got the idea from Engels who once said that power and freedom are identical, underscoring the fact that these are truly international institutions.
