Ahh... it's all clear now. I understand the market. See, Paul, in the below 43 minute period, a little light went on collectively in "the market's" head. Must be it.

08:30 ET S&P futures vs fair value: +7.2. Nasdaq futures vs fair value: +8.0. Conflicting reports this morning as to whether U.S. troops are in the demilitarized zone on the Iraq-Kuwait border, but no matter, the market understands war is imminent and is heartened that clarity on the matter has arrived...Accordingly, the futures market is trading with a positive bias and is signalling a positive start for the cash market

09:13 ET S&P futures vs fair value: +3.0. Nasdaq futures vs fair value: +1.0. Futures market has lost some steam and is now signalling a modestly higher open for the cash market... While traders seem heartened by the understanding that war is imminent, the thought of what comes after a military engagement, and the possibility that the war may not be quick and easy, have served as a restraining influences
