>>if the acts that I quoted are not in accord with Muslim beliefs...why are they happening?<< Because Islam consists of two bodies of religious law. One is the direct teaching of the Prophet and the other is the interpretation of that teaching, often by charlatans. It is hardly any different from the claptrap that sometimes comes from barely educated (or should I say badly educated) people from mainly fundamentalist sects of Christianity, who interpret the Bible to suit their own momentary needs.

If you had bothered to find out about Muslim culture, you would see that the problem is NOT the religion but the attempt to make religious fiat substitute for secular laws governing modern nations. The coexistence of religion and secularism in many, but not all Muslim countries is not an old tradition. That's why the idea of bringing democracy to many Muslim countries, including Iraq, Saudi Arabia, Syria, etc. is a bad joke. Even the administration knows this, despite public statements to the contrary. That's why they are going to run Iraq not as a democracy but as an American colony with a military governor. It won't help democracy. It will only be another example of outdated, outmoded 19th century imperialism, and it will open the U.S. to generations of attacks from those bound to get even.

You talk of the evils of terrorism, exemplified by 9-11. The war policy followed by colonial government will help the cause of terrorism over the next generation by a factor of 100, if not 1000.

Stupid, just plain stupid.
