They just showed it live on CNN. He had the conference to specifically deny the rumour.

BAGHDAD (AP)--Iraqi Deputy Prime Minister Tariq Aziz appeared Wednesday at a news conference, putting to rest rumors that he had abandoned the Baghdad regime of Saddam Hussein. Cable News Network carried footage of the press conference, which was broadcast on Al-Arabiya TV.
