Schaeffer's 'Herd' on the Street:

Boots & Coots International Well Control
Boots & Coots International Well Control (Amex: WEL) offers emergency oil
and gas services, including cleanups after spills, fires, and other disasters.
With an invasion into Iraq almost a foregone conclusion, WEL has become the
subject for prominent debate across a bevy of Internet message boards. Many
are theorizing that the Texas-based company would enjoy a jolt of business
following a successful military outing in the oil-rich company. Today alone,
the stock (which has yet to trade in double-digit territory in its five-year
history) has climbed more than 14 percent to achieve a new 52-week peak. Over
the past three sessions, the penny stock has been accelerating rapidly higher
amid extremely heavy volume.

Fresh Del Monte Produce
Agricultural concern Fresh Del Monte Produce (NYSE: FDP) is active on the
newswires today after filing a lawsuit against a collection of companies
including Eastbrook Caribe. FDP claims that the consortium of competitors
conspired against FDP through a series of frivolous lawsuits and negative
media campaigns. FDP officials have also voiced their charges with the
Securities Exchange Commission. FDP has risen almost four percent today and
is trying to overcome short-term resistance at its 10-day moving average.
Since peaking in early November, the equity has declined approximately 45
percent. Last month, the stock endured its first solid monthly close beneath
both its 10-month and 20-month moving averages since December 2000. There is
a fair amount of pessimistic sentiment on the produce grower. Schaeffer's
put/call open interest ratio (SOIR) for FDP stands at 1.73, in the top 73
percent of all annual readings of this indicator. Additionally, there are
more than 3.2 million FDP shares sold short, amounting to a short-interest
ratio of 6.7 times.

Hotels.com
Earlier today, lowestfare.com (a unit of Priceline) ended its agreement
with Hotels.com (Nasdaq: ROOM). This news has done little to sour the shares,
which are hovering near the breakeven point on heavy volume in early-afternoon
trading. Since its February low, ROOM shares have climbed over 40 percent and
have recently inched above their 20-week moving average. This intermediate-
term trendline had been working in tandem with the equity's 10-week to contain
the shares since early December. Schaeffer's put/call open interest ratio
(SOIR) for ROOM currently weighs in at 1.51. This means that for every 100
calls in the front three months' worth of options, there are 151 open puts.
The indicator is in the top 29 percent of all annual readings, suggesting a
slight pessimistic lilt toward the equity from the options-playing crowd.
