I disagree. They get a lot of info from Mossad, Aman, Israel FA, Turkey and about every "moderate" muslim secret service + the Kurds etc.
Could be they have been manipulated for the right cause. (They pushed the $ by O.2% within the minute) but that's a side effect.
It was funny to see how long it took the US to "correct" them.

My impression of Debka is a couple of guys with a computer making up stories by extrapolating from the latest news. Sometimes they are lucky, most times they are not. But since they have a definite bias, they have acquired quite a following, even by some intelligent people.

My impression is that debka is a "leak sink", mainly for Likud politicians and Israeli military intelligence. Their predictions tend to be wishful, from a far right Israeli perspective. But when they report "x happened" and x is in the Middle East, their track record is not much worse than the mainstream papers, and they report a lot more and a lot faster. You just have to filter for their slant.

So that's why I read them.

Besides, it's not a secret who runs debka. It's a bunch of ex-intelligence officers working from Jerusalem. I just saw an interview with them recently, I forget where.

Debka is the 'Drudge Report' of the right wing in Israel. It isn't a wholely reliable source, it does break some stories nobody else gets and it is a useful place to find out what the Israel right is worried about today.
