<< The problem is that many, if not most, of these dictatorships are propped up by our own government. >>

That is one of the biggest lies, spread by America's enemies.

Unless America marched it's troops into every Arab nation, we have to work with the leaders that come forth from the Arab people.

We didn't chose the crap that runs the Arab nations. But, in most cases, America has to chose between two evils. A great non-Arab example of this is China. We've got to work with the repressive, backward Chinese government, not because we love the old, senile Chinese leaders, but because, short of military intervention, we have no choice.

<< if we want to have democracy in these countries we
should stop supporting the dictators and start supporting their people instead.
>>

And how is this done? America has had some bad experiences in trying to develop good governments in a lot of backward countries. How do you support the people, if the people have only been educated in the fables of the Koran? If the people are very backward, and have been brainwashed for decades, how do you get them to form a democracy, short of occupation forces?

America, and the rest of the free world, sometimes has to deal with the crap that governs many countries. It's not propping the governments up, it is dealing with reality.

Except for.......... Iraq. Iraq WILL have a democracy, and WILL be free of it's ruthless, criminally insane ruler.
