I am hearing that this strike tonight was decided upon at the last minute by Rumsfeld and Bush. If it had caught Saddam it would have been successful but since it appears not to have done that it has probably put our troops in an increased jeopardy.

Apparently, intelligence reports are very sketchy and not always true so engaging in the bombing mission was a long shot since it was not the preplanned start of the war.

Wouldn't it have been more prudent to launch the attack with followup at the time that had been predetermined . I heard that some of the field Commanders were shocked that t the attack had occurred and had no foreknowledge of the plan.

In fact, KGO's reporter in the field said that he was telling the soldiers that the attack had started already...............not their commanders.

( KGO is the San Francisco radio station)
