Not that they don't deserve to have their tail tweaked for giving us a hard time over this, but simply because it won't accomplish anything useful.

I agree if you mean that the US shouldn't go out of its way to stick it to France, which would look spiteful. BUT there should definitely be a price to pay. The two options I suggested, publishing French arms dealings and cutting out TotalFinaElf, can be accomplished without fuss or distraction. Somewhere a lot of our "allies" (and I use the word loosely, since allies have shared goals and it's pretty clear that France and the US don't have many at this moment) got the idea that the US could be crossed at no cost. This has got to change. France's perfidy in the UN was too major to ignore.
