Iraqi Kurds demand oil partnership
Posted: March 20th, 2003
The Kurdish forces in northern Iraq have agreed to temporary control of the northern
Iraqi oilfields by the invading US forces, but demand a partnership with Washington
once Saddam is overthrown, reported AP. Kurdish leaders predicted that US
command of the Kirkuk and Mosul oilfields would be fast and very short term. The
Kurds have been particularly concerned that the oilfields might fall into Turkish hands.
