Business Editors/High-Tech Writers
WESTWOOD, Mass.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--March 5, 2003--
Ultra-Lightweight, Ergonomically Designed Eyewear Viewers to Be Featured in the"Fashion in Motion" Wireless Fashion Shows and Wireless Widgets Showcase
The MicroOptical Corporation, the leader in eyewear viewers for the portable electronics industry, will showcase several mobile and wireless applications at CTIA Wireless 2003, March 17-19 in New Orleans. During both the Fashion in Motion wireless fashion shows and Wireless Widgets Showcase, MicroOptical will demonstrate how its ultra-lightweight, ergonomically designed products make on-the-go communication, computing and entertainment more practical by providing a hands-free, portable and private viewing and listening experience. "Thanks to smaller, lighter and more portable personal electronic devices, such as cell phones, PDAs and camcorders, users can surf the Web, read e-mail and record video on the go," said Mark Spitzer, CEO of MicroOptical. "While these devices have tremendous potential to change how we work and play, they have one significant limitation. As the devices get smaller, so too do their displays, making it increasingly difficult to read the screens. MicroOptical eyewear viewers help users maximize the full potential of their devices by taking the output signal and projecting a large image into an ordinary pair of glasses. The daylight readable viewers are like having a monitor in front of you all the time, anywhere you go."
Wireless Fashion Shows
MicroOptical will showcase the following applications for its products during Fashion in Motion wireless fashion shows (http://www.wireless2003.com/exhibits/fashion_in.cfm):
-- The SV-3 attached to a wearable computer. This application helps the mobile work force increase efficiency, productivity and workflow by providing users hands-free, head-up viewing of blue prints, operating instructions, field service reports or other pertinent information. -- The SV-3 attached to a Pocket PC. This is a breakthrough in portability as it's the first head-mounted display to connect directly to a PDA without a second power source. This application, also geared to the mobile work force, displays a full VGA size screen and is ideal for viewing pictures, GPS, large maps, or even surfing the Web. -- The CV-1 attached to a video camera. This application, which allows the wireless transmission of video to a mobile user, is perfect for security stations, guards, or video production as it allows users to see what the camera sees while keeping their focus on the task at hand.
MicroOptical's demonstrations will take place the following days and times in the Wireless Lifestyles Pavilion (Room A) of the Ernest N. Morial Convention Center. Each fashion show will last for approximately 30 minutes.
-- Monday, March 17: 11:30 a.m., 2:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m. -- Tuesday, March 18: 11:30 a.m., 2:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m. -- Wednesday, March 19: 11:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m.
Wireless Widgets Showcase
MicroOptical's SV-3 attached to a Pocket PC will also be included in CTIA's Wireless Widgets Showcase, a display that will feature the hottest in wireless and wireless data. CTIA has selected the most compelling, useful and interesting devices, accessories, hardware and applications. The Wireless Widgets Showcase will be available throughout CTIA Wireless 2003 in booth #4514.
