Russian President Vladimir Putin:

Today the USSR started a military action against Poland, Hungary, Czechoslovakia and Afghanistan. There are already many human casualties and destruction by soviet tanks. An entire region finds itself in danger of a large-scale humanitarian and ecological catastrophe. I should stress straight away that the hostilities are being carried out against world public opinion, against the principles and norms of international law and the UN Charter. This military action cannot be justified by anything.. [it] was a great political mistake, because America stood against us, and eventually the USSR lost the cold war.

===> "World leaders and senior officials have reacted to the start of the US-led military operations against Iraq with some registering approval and others condemning the action." <===

America should remember those countries, that stabbed us in the back while we were trying to liberate the badly oppressed people of Iraq.

Next budget we should lower our foreign aid to those countries, and increase our aid to our friends, like Israel, Afghanistan, Iraq ...
