Why? Once it got by the resistance at around $78, there was nothingn but air for the next $11.

FYI, and FWIW, by my old-fashioned, simple chart chasing, EBay has shown up for sometime as one of the strongest stocks around:

Has been in an uptrend since early 2001; has been forming a massive bullish ascending triangle since mid-2001, which it broke out of at the beginning of this year, and which measures to around 100; has maintained a strong technical position for some time, holding above 20, 50, and 200 day MAs, with all of those MAs rising, and all of the shorter period MAs having crossed above the longer ones..........

........Have always been puzzled trying to figure out why there would be any interest in shorting such a technically strong stock......
