If a week or so passes and there are *no* terrorist attacks on US soil then I will conclude that all these terror alerts and other hysteria dished out by the Bush administration is nothing but self serving propoganda.

I suspect it already but no activity from terrorists now will prove it at least to me.

I don't know if this war will be a problem, economy might, but his stance on terrorism is pretty well liked. But use your vote, that is what it is for.:)

New York City, USA March 20,2003--The TV Network News producer looked
worried as he took a coffee break in the news operation's New York
City facility. "The big boys want lots of "bang-bang" and so far with
this Iraq thing, we have not been able to show it to them."
Observers working in low level positions in several major media
operations will continue to send dispatches regarding the real way
news in the US is now conveyed.
The "bang-bang" factor first became an issue during network coverage
of the Vietnam War, the first truly televised US conflict. It became
common for arrogant producers, safely ensconced in their New York
offices, to demand lots of shooting, blood and guts, from the front in
South Vietnam. It was a source of frustration for many news crews
attempting to cover the combat in Southeast Asia. However, the
opening stages of the latest Iraq conflict have been short on
"bang-bang" and long on talking heads with fumbling field
correspondents attempting to fill time.
Defense Secretary Rumsfeld's promise of "a new offensive more powerful
than anything seen before" was greeted with a sigh of relief in
several corporate media newsrooms Thursday afternoon.
The "bang-bang" will not come soon enough for ratings-hungry media
corporations.

I think you're right. If a moderate Democrat like John Edwards from North Carolina wins the nomination, Bush will be toast in 2004. A more liberal Democrat like John Kerry of Massachusettes might give Bush a better shot at a 2nd term. The country isn't getting any more liberal lately.

I've always been a Democrat and have been trying to give Bush a fair shot. But, I honestly believe he is leading the country down the wrong path. The first thing he did was announce that he was breaking off diplomacy with North Korea and we're now witnessing the fruits of that brilliant move. Too much emphasis on police state tactics. Too many bogus terrorist warnings. Too much war. Too little attention to domestic issues like the environment. Bush 43 is settting up to be a one term President. Especially if the economy is still in the doldrums by this time next year.

<< The only thing that can derail a Bush defeat is if the Dems put up someone not moderate enough ... >>

It has already been announced that the Democrats are going to run an Al Sharpton and Richard C. Reid ticket against Bush in 2004.

"But I sure won't vote for Bush next time around and I don't think anybody else will either"

Honest! I'm NOT picking on you! I'm just catching up on reading a thread. But you don't think anyone will vote for Bush?! Like...NOBODY is going to disagree with you in the whole country??!!

Somebody should tell the Reps to save a whole lot of campaign money...:-)

Right Lizzie! Everybody thinks just like you. Your musing is sadly awry.
