Dont let the markets fool you. American morale will be at a high if this war proves fast and clean, but the feeling will fade and fundamental problems will still exist. We may lose another 300,000 jobs this month like we did last. Therefore morale alone is no panacea.

Staunching the economic losses will be difficult. And the markets will not really recover until the Bushies try to balance the budget more. That means only one thing, rescind at least 50% of the tax cuts, and definitely the ones for the rich. I dont see them doing that. They really stand firm for the rich for some reason.

One thing this war might do is bring down oil prices, a very welcome thing indeed. That will help the airlines specially. Also a quick war could reduce the cost of it by some 50 billion, though the occupation will be very expensive. And that's where having lots of allies come in handy, to share that cost of peacekeepers.

Anyway, seems like a good news day. Hope it continues.
