I keep hearing from Washington, that America is not interested in controlling the oil.

Watch what they do, not what they say. Of course they are going to say propaganda like that. But, who do you think is going to be in control of all that oil once a U.S. General is running Iraq? I'm sure it can't be any worse than the way Saddam has run the country. He's run that country into the ground, the fool. I'm also sure the U.S. will be fair in their compensation for Iraqi oil. But, the spoils of war go to the victor and in this case the spoils are the 2nd biggest oil reserves in the world. Even if the oil contracts go out for open bids, don't you think U.S. oil companies will get the first crack at them?

The scenario I read is that the U.S. is going to encourage the Iraqis to "privatize" their oil production facilities. Guess who's going to be there ready to take over once the privitization effort gets underway?
