ork -- i don't wanna say anything bad 'bout Whole Foods, 'cause as a consumer i love 'em. i do almost all the family (food) shopping there; baby has never had anything not organic and my wife is a wonderful cook so it only makes sense to go with the better quality produce / meat we can get from there.

the financial returns there are actually pretty good (as opposed to the terrible returns at their weak-sister competitor Wild Oats (OATS). they can probably grow square footage by 10-15% a year self-financed, though do note that its not 'really' self-financed as they lease most of their facilities (i.e. effectively 'borrowing' money from real estate developers).

i was more making the point about how when Barron's (or any financial publication, for that matter) figures out that a company/stock is excellent we should be rapidly approaching the end. Whole Foods trades for 40x earnings and has been basically going straight up for 6 years and Barron's just now is writing a story about it???

Cheers
