Archaeology keeps making new discoveries which bring into question many of the tenets of biblical belief. For example did the Exodus occur? But discoveries in this field are explosive politically, with so many claims and counter claims. It's conscience salving to describe the Arabs as nomads. Makes the idea of massive displacement more palatable.
