Help is sought? My notes: Fox: the worst, several reporters that get facts garbled, seems to be mostly a US cheerleading propaganda machine. CNBC: Mostly seems to be fluff and balm, a bunch of military experts trotted out that say the same things. Probably instrumental in developing a benign outcome mindset in the population, that of course sets up the potential for a panic later. I watch it as a contrary indicator to see if consensus thinking seems to be getting unbalanced. I believe that is happening. CNN: Seems more factual, uses better more balanced analysts, including several independent NY Times journalists and Kenneth Pollack. Seems less interested in telling viewers what they want to hear (the balm). Aaron Brown is all over the map sometimes, but if you're patient with him, you'll get some concrete useful information. He tends to keep pushing for the answers to important questions. Debka (Israeli) : Seems to almost report news before it actually happens. Speculative reporting? Maybe, but 90% of the time they nail it.debka.com US govt (military, Bush mouthpieces); seems mostly geared at thought control, and psychological warfare against Iraq. Some entertainment value as they use mouthpieces that are effective at skewering and muzzling reporters. Franks just went through the motions in the Sat. AM briefing. All perfectly proper for conducting war, but not useful to the analyst or money manager. Conflict issues: Energy disruptions? Reports have been unclear on this. Apparently pipelines have been damaged, but not many wells. Has Kirkuk been seized intact? Reporting seems unclear. Rumuila? If reports are correct, this seems the best news of the war, as the fields have been saved. Military briefing this AM, stated just nine wells ablaze. However news out of Nigeria is just ignored:Message 18735361 Turkey: This news is big IMO and the worst of the war, mostly in terms of the post-war scenario.Message 18736603 Military? Seems everything points to Baghdad or Husseingrad as the main event. Message 18736608 Bombing, shock and awe campaigns have never broken enemy will in the past, but this time the "experts" are assuring us, is different.
