i think they would be protesting anyway, (as you suggest) however in fairness i would like to ask some of them the question. iraqi people really cannot (at least till now maybe) protest against s/h...i'm not sure the protestors are in favour of the regime, i don't think any of them would have been opposed to see s/h hanging up his boots and accepting exile.
i do think overall the protestors are misguided and foolish...part of that though is from an economic point of view i think my country and yours is kinda broke anyway and now we are using up valuable resources to deal with these people...i.e. i hear the jails were filled up in san fran last night...i'm not the biggest fan of the guy on the beat but they have a tough enough job on a day to day basis without extra pressure from know-it-alls who might be bound to get over emotional in a group. perhaps some of these people need to consider the immense cost to all of us of having to deal with a threat of terrorism...

I want to make sure you hawks saw this... no matter what you think about the war, this is clever -good work.

The CIA planted a false rumor with a British television network that Iraqi Deputy Prime Minister Tarik Aziz had defected, hoping Aziz would go on Iraqi television to deny it. He did. The CIA tracked him back to a bunker, and the Navy and the Air Force destroyed it with cruise missiles and bombs.
