I'm sure you're right -- the benefit to the Iraqi people from Sadaam's demise is purely incidental. The motive is to prevent further harm to people and countries outside of Iraq.

Call it what you want....the fact is that had the un done the job they whitewash people into believing they are capable (willing is a non-factor) of doing, things would never have come to this. No one, you or I, can truthfully say how things would be in a year or two if the will (or lack of it)of the un had been followed. Personally, I prefer to err on the side of common sense and eliminate the mold before it rots the whole building.
