I couldn't agree with you more.

People seem to forget the WTC was attacked in 93, I'm sure the planning and execution effort was similar to 911. 911 taught us that we need to beef up security at airports and maintain a more accurate list of foreign residents, perhaps track border activity more thoroughly. But issuing all these terror alerts does nothing to improve safety for anybody imo.
