Jordan is being pulled in opposite directions. On the one hand it relies heavily on Baghdad for vital oil supplies and trade. On the other hand it will need massive US largesse to recoup war losses. A huge and "unofficial" buildup of US tanks and troops in eastern Jordan, then, provides a strong clue as to how the Jordanians are handling the dilemma.

I figured as much. Where did the troops come from that are occupying H1 and H2 in the western desert bordering Jordan? Jordan!
