guess it depends on POV -- if you are an Iraqi that was blown to bits just now, it isn't good news.

You know my feeling already, but I don't think this makes the US any more secure from terrorists -- I'll celebrate when it is over, but only because the killing is done. I think the war was bad from a number of standpoints.

Strategically, it makes sense with respect to establishing a base next to Saudi Arabia and controlling Iraqi oilfields -- but that's really imperialism and the whole arab world certainly sees it this way. I hope it works. We need the oil and the leverage against the Saudis, but don't agree that the strike was morally warranted.

"Freeing the Iraqi people" is just an ad hoc rationalization -- we could use that reasoning to invade almost any country whose government we disagree with.

I support our troops and pray for minimum loss of life on both sides. Here's hoping Sadam's body is produced post haste.
