Ah, hadn't heard of that .... trés stupide, bien sur .... US nationals take their symbolism far more seriously than we can imagine, it would be wise to remember that

And yes, it's not about the soldiers themselves, they are just taking orders, and have been conditioned from birth to expect those orders always to further Truth and Beauty .... as for Bush II, yeah, as a british columbian i don't think that adjective quite captures the essence

The thing we need to do, is forge ties, build bridges not walls .... thinking of the folks right here on this mountain road, most families have relatives in the US, not sure if it's the great majority but it's certainly the majority ... Viet Nam era immigrants, kids who went south to the entertainment industry, marriages across the line ... there is one family who must have eight or more nationalities between them, and 'US' is one ... i have a cousin who voted for Bush, on hearing the 'juntos podemos' line of the day, my wife has a cousin who will soon be a citizen there, other distant ones who already are .... it is not just a government to government thing, it is much more than that

And ties to other nations as well, stronger trade and diplomatic links ..... the US is right there close, sure, but in the periods when they are going through these rogue administrations we get shafted .... we need diversification

Last night i caught on telly a clip of them booing in Montréal, it appeared to be only a minority[?] ... a lamentably sizable minority, but not enough to carry a vote, it looked like .... and this at a hockey game, where emotion can run high in the moment, where cheering/booing of sides is the norm

The whole idea of collective guilt and/or sainthood for the entire populace of a nation is pretty stupid, really ... there are always diverse views ....... to grossly over-simplify into the two narrow stances of 'pro-war' and 'anti-war', it is safe to say that there are more 'anti-wars' in the US than there are canadians in total ..... probably more than there are frenchmen in total, too - sixty millions is what, not much over twenty-five per cent of US population
