The thing to always keep in mind when reading Arab politicians is that by and large Arab nations (but usually not their leaders) are Pan-Arabist. To see this philosophy in action you should look at it during the time of Abdul Karim Nasser of Egypt and the rise of Ba'th parties in Iraq and Syria (yes, Syria is also a Ba'thist regime)...I'd love to stay and expand on this, but I have to run. For now let's just say Pan-Arabist is based on chip-on-a-shoulder Arab nationalism (and racism?) with the primary goal of uniting all Arab nations under one leadership. The power that such a union brings is appealing to Arabs, but given they all want to be the boss it has remained illusive. Even so, Arab nations in principle believe that they should all unite against outside forces.

On another note, I am delighted that we are going to discuss terrorism objectively. I will pick it up soon, but I have to call it a night.
