I think these days IRA is a terrorist group.

I say this with two caveats - first, as a Catholic, I sympathize with the position of the IRA that Catholics have been mistreated historically in Northern Ireland. But I believe that the ballot box is the place to redress grievances as long as the votes are fair.

Second, my husband is descended from a long line of Ulster Protestants, so I believe based on him that for the most part they are posturing these days and don't mean deadly harm to the Catholics anymore, but I still think Ian Paisley is a big fat idiot.

In America, different religions get along, or if they don't, at least they should. Maybe if you are a Kennedy you can give to the IRA without anybody batting an eye.
