Israeli Soldiers Take Hostages in Nablus; Attempt to Kill Another US Activist

Friday, March 21 2003 @ 06:45 AM GMT

RAMALLAH - Israel is using the distraction of the international media during the current attack against Iraq to upscale its activities targeting Palestinians, civil society organizations based in the West Bank and Gaza Strip said today.

According to sources, Israeli soldiers today invaded the Old City of Nablus and are currently holding several men, women and children hostage. The Israeli army has also destroyed several houses in the area.

In another development, an Israeli soldier shot a US activist and member of GIPP (Grassroots International Protection for Palestinians) in Nablus -- the second Israeli attack against a US citizen this week. Eric Hawanith, 21, from Chicago, was shot in the chest and leg by three rubber-coated steel bullets.

He was rushed to hospital by Palestinian paramedics, who were being shot at by Israelis as they attempted to provide Hawanith with first aid.

Rachel Corrie, a US peace activist, was murdered by an Israeli in a bulldozer on Sunday as she was demonstrating against the demolition of a home in Rafah, in the Gaza Strip.

Israeli forces also invaded al Magazi refugee camp in Gaza today, blowing up one house and shooting at civilians randomly.

interesting. This will be problematic British ,U.S. troops.

Plus now the Turks have moved across the Iraqi border and this could cause Turks and Iraqi Kurds to have a secondary war in the North.
Rummy has taken a huge gamble here because if his chest banging regards Shock and Awe will bring Iraqi military to disorientation and trembling and to cause them to give up does not work, he will have guided and in not sufficient amount of troops into the high danger zone of Baghdad(in others words if his diabolical plan of hard impact horror and terror fails, watch out; quagmire ahead)
i have said if this plan goes array it goes completely on the shoulders of Rumsfeld, and flag wavers should drop their flags and protest, that is if they can pull out the flag deeply embedded in their brain, like some mind control chip.
I don't know if more iraqi troops have surrendered since last night, but the surrender that did happen reveals how totally propagandistic our media is as they go "o wow, a division of 8,000 Iraqis surrender.Looking Good!!!" Failing to note that this WAS expected in the southern region, and that only over 700,000 iraqi troops remain.
So maybe they do all surrender, that is not the point; the point is they are behaving NO better than a bunch of airhead cheerleaders possesing no objectivity; our media talkin heads are all part of the dumbing of america and might as well be given the title
"U.S. Ministry of Information".
Of course if the polls changed and the war bogged down our national TV media would start pointing fingers, but not ONE finger at themselves--shameless.Max
