AS SAYLIYA CAMP, Qatar, March 22 - U.S.-led forces have captured the southern Iraqi town of Nassiriya, U.S. military spokesman Stuart Upton told Reuters on Saturday.

"Nassiriya has fallen," he said from the U.S. Central Command headquarters in Qatar. He declined to give further details.

The town is a key crossing point on the Euphrates river about 200 miles southeast of the capital, Baghdad.

... the arrogance in America in the last few days is palpable ... and I do not direct the comment at our Defense Department only ...

... reporters, average Americans, posters on internet threads ... almost everywhere ... and mostly males ...

... maybe we will get our 5 day war, and this military conflict will be over with minimal losses on both sides ...

... and maybe not ...

... almost as if the millions all around the world who disagree with this action, particularly at this time, should just be ignored ...

... lots of arrogance ...

... and then there are investors who think we are back to the good times on Wall Street again ... many sheep to be shorn once again ...

... I am not interested in a public debate, but I did want to voice my thoughts ...
