The GOP war against Kerry: Notice they attack no other candidates except Edwards sometimes, as he is a likely Vice President candidate who could give Kerry-Edwards (if that is the team) the critical state of North Carolina, and maybe more.

The GOP actually PROMOTES Lieberman, loves to talk about Sharpton, ignores Gephardt because he's not a threat and supports the war vociferously. Kerry and Edwards also more or less support the war, which was a smart move by them though they both had misgivings about how Bush got us there.

Anyway, The war against Kerry. My friend in Boston had the difficult task of co-running William Weld's race against Kerry eight years ago so I know about this. Gov Weld was the most popular Republican in Mass history and this was his stepping stone to try and become a moderate GOP president. But Kerry was almost impossible to attack. They could find NOTHING on him, past or present, and as brilliant a campaigner as Weld was Kerry whipped him every time. They had debates all the time, historic debates between two great debaters. Kerry won.

The GOP knows they have zero on Kerry. No scandals, no dirt, no failures, no weaknesses. And they know he's moved moderate in the past few years, will run with a moderate and was a magnificent war hero. Kerry even has footage of himself in Nam looking tall and handsome, buddying with his troops, and all of his men still will campaign for him, mostly southerners. Vets groups also support Kerry almost 100%.

The GOP really doesn't know what to do with Kerry except to try and smear him with phony silly lies prior to the real campaign, hoping people will make up their minds against Kerry before he has a chance to present his case to them. Deliberaterly confusing Kerrey and Kerry, and Kerry and Kennedy is one of their sneaky little strategies. These are the same guys who spread the word Gore said he "invented" the internet, which of course he never said. Same kind of deal. Character assasination disinformation spread psy-ops CIA style.

By the way, Gore never fought back against the slurs on him. Kerry's people will. They wont let any of the BS stand.
