There is no Bob Kerry. There's John Kerry and Bob Kerrey. Kerry was a Navy gunboat squad leader and won the Silvert Star, Bronze Star, triple Purple Hearst and stands firmly behind our troops. Bob Kerrey is a Medal of Honor winner, former Navy SEAL and former Senator, who was wounded badly and sadly took party in a village attack which caused a lot of civilian lives. In those days in Nam such tragedies were common. The real mistake came down from the top in those days. Poorly-planned and motivated war. A grievous mistake in almost every way. John Kerry came home and protested to end the war ASAP. He did it to save the lives of his brothers in arms. After the Pentagon papers came out everyone knew our government was lying to us and had been for many years. It was time to end it and accept the bitter truth. That was then, this is now. But beware government lies to the American people, they will happen. Nevertheless, this is no reflection on our combat heros.

Yes he served his country and served it damn well and I would have no trouble supporting him for any office....but he made a serious mistake in Viet Nam, one that cannot be defended.....
