Not quite sure what you mean. For a change, I don't think any of the leaders are cynically fishing for votes here. I think all five of them have adopted a position that's consistent with their conscience. Harper can't possibly gain on this issue, if the polls are accurate and if, for the majority, the war is something they care deeply about. How many Canadians support what the U.S. is doing? It might be a third, it might be more or less, but it's not the majority.

There are lots of things Harper could be doing for short term political gain. This is not one of them. For the others, gains might accrue to the Liberals, but really it's not a differentiating issue.
