Fox is reporting that a Muslim American soldier is being held along with a non-American. The soldier was reportedly "acting weird" shortly before the attack.

>> Wouldn't it be more appropriate to describe it as a guerrilla attack?

No. That would be if a sponsored group raped and killed some nuns and their housekeeper. Or perhaps some Rangers slashed the throats of a sleeping family.

Niggling semantic question: can an attack on troops in time of war be properly called a terrorist action? Wouldn't it be more appropriate to describe it as a guerrilla attack?

I would agree with that, certainly if the attackers were Iraqis. If they were Kuwaitis, I guess you can still say it was a guerrilla attack, based on the targets, but don't you have to identify the attacking group? Don't guerillas have to belong to a network, not just be loners?

Latest report is that it was a disgruntled American soldier.

Steven

You are so right about how war SHOULD NOT be presented to the public like video game or some sporting event where people go for beer and doritos and have the volume turned down when the bombing noise is too loud.
