There is no way to stop it, if people are uneducated enough to want that. Your only protection against mob rule, is educating people not to belong to mobs. Unfortunately, if you educate people to think for themselves, they will- and you won't have agreement on things like war. An educated population, which has viable economic opportunities, is not going to embrace KKK philosophies. The KKK appeals to ignorant people who need to project their own failures in society onto others. Educated people don't usually do that, barring catastrophic economic collapses- which can unhinge even educated people.

If voicing an opinion is treason, than you can kiss any liberty goodbye. The most crucial time to be able to voice an opinion is when it really matters- when troops are in harms war, for example. During the Vietnam war the most important time to voice an opinion was while the shooting was going on. If people had refrained from protesting until troops were not in harms way, I submit to you that we could have been in for a much longer war.
