That is the way it works. Michael Chertoff, the head of the DOJ's Criminal Division is an extreme partisan who is protecting members of his own mafia, including Ken Lay and Oil Slick Dick.

So far, four traders for Enron have been successfully prosecuted for various illegal trading schemes. Yet Chertoff accepts the ludicrous argument that the executives in charge of these traders were clueless about the schemes. His intransigence defies all logic.

As a side note, you should be aware that rate payers all the way from the Canadian border to Tijuana were impacted by the illegal trades that Enron et al engineered. Here in Central Oregon we were forced to accept a 23% rise in electric rates due to the illegal trading as of 10/01.
