WEST BANK & GAZA STRIP
Gaza Palestine Satellite Channel Television in Arabic, official
television station of the Palestinian Authority, carries at 0958 GMT
a live sermon from Shaykh Ijlin mosque in Gaza.
Shaykh Ibrahim Mudayris delivers the sermon, which he begins by
saying that God is stronger than the United States, Britain, and
Israel, and that he will avenge for his subjects from their enemies,
the arrogant on this earth. He says: "God will drown the small
pharaoh of our time, the president of the United States. America will
drown in our seas. It will face death in our skies and lands, God
willing. America and all tyrants will drown in their blood in our
land, God willing."
Addressing Palestinians and Iraqis, the imam says: "Here is the
Crusader, Zionist United States waging war on our Iraq; Iraq of Islam
and Arabdom, Iraq of civilization and history, Iraq of science, and
Iraq of steadfastness. It is waging a Crusader, Zionist war on Iraq."
He warns that if Iraq were defeated that would be end of the Arab
nation, as Lebanon and Syria would be next.
The imam pleads: "We must resist for the sake of our dignity and
honor and the liberation of our land from the despotic Zionist and
Crusader tyrants. It is a Crusader, Zionist campaign. I assure you, I
am not the one who said it. It was announced by the small Pharaoh
himself when he said it is a Crusade."
The imam emphasizes the significance of Iraq in history, as the
cradle of civilization, the seat of the Abbasid dynasty, the center
of Islamic culture, and the burial place of renowned Islamic imams,
and says: "God willing, the United States will be annihilated. Iraq,
Palestine, the Arab homeland, and the Middle East will be a cemetery
for the oppressive tyrannical invaders."
The imam continues with the same theme in the second sermon. He
alludes to "Arab and Islamic treason" against Iraq. He says Arab and
Muslim stands are
despicable: "We pity the Arab and Muslim rulers. We pity Muslim
ulema! How can Iraq, the center of Arab and Islamic civilization, be
attacked, while the ulema remain silent" He calls on the ulema to
rouse the nation against the war on Iraq.
The imam then leads this prayer: "O Lord, O Supporter of the
oppressed, we have been treated unjustly in Palestine, Iraq, and
Afghanistan. We depend only on Your Power, O Lord, we stand at Your
door, don't disappoint us. O Lord, destroy the pillars of America and
Britain. O Lord, shake the land under their feet. O Lord, shake the
land under Israel's feet. O Lord, O avenger, avenge for our martyrs,
deportees, prisoners, homes, and sanctities. You are our only help. O
Lord, O Lord, O Lord, Amen."
Ramallah Voice of Palestine, official radio station of the
Palestinian Authority, carries at 0958 GMT a live sermon from Al-Aqsa
Mosque in Jerusalem.
Shaykh Muhammad Husayn delivers the sermon, which he begins by saying
that the US-led aggression against Iraq has started. "This criminal
aggression," he says, "is in violation of all international laws and
norms." The imam laments the "inaction and collusion" by Arab and
Islamic states and warns that the "criminal aggression" against Iraq
is a prelude to changing the map of the region and dividing it into
small entities.
The imam emphasizes that Islam forbids befriending infidels, saying
that whoever helps the infidels and facilitates their mission in
killing fellow Muslims commits a great sin. Our learned ulema say
that evicting invaders from Muslim lands is a mandatory duty for all
Muslims, he adds.
The imam continues with the same theme in his second sermon. He says:
"From the blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque we reject and condemn this criminal
aggression against Iraq and its brave people." He appeals to all
world nations and human rights organizations that have also expressed
their rejection of the aggression through demonstrations, to stand by
their humanitarianism in order to protect Iraqi men, women, and
children who are being annihilated by the US military machine. He
also says: "We appeal to all the peoples of the Islamic nation to
rush to the defense of their honor by repulsing the aggression
against their brethren in creed and religion. They must not wait for
any stands to be taken by the ruling regimes in the world of Arabdom
and Islam, as they have been bared out and their conspiracy against
the nation and its resources has been exposed."
The imam concludes with a prayer to God for immediate relief for
Muslims. He prays: "O Lord, O revealer of the book, mover of the clouds, and vanquisher of infidels, defeat the infidels and help us triumph over them. O Lord, face them and spare us their evil. O Lord, show us the miracles of Your power on them and the might of your vengeance. O Lord, shake the land under their feat and make fate turn against them. For they have tyrannized and came to fight God and his prophet. O Lord, kill them all and leave no one alive." |
